What is Commerce Frosh anyways?
Commerce Frosh is commonly confused with Orientation
Week. Orientation Week is a separate event from Commerce Frosh. The Orientation
Week is hosted by Ryerson and is open to ALL students. Commerce Frosh is hosted
by the Ryerson Commerce Society (RCS), and is for strictly Commerce students
(anyone in the Retail, ITM, Hospitality and Business Management programs). This
is RCS’ first event of the school year and also one of its biggest! Commerce
Frosh is A FOUR-DAY fun and interactive experience that takes place a week
before classes begin. You get the opportunity to meet over 400 new commerce students,
expand your network by meeting 150 upper year students who will be your Leaders
and Organizers for the week and have a blast though a combination of teamwork
and social events. Commerce Frosh is an unforgettable experience, which many
students remember for the rest of their lives. The friendships that are made,
the activities that are shared, and the bonding of a new class is formed all
before you all hit the classrooms!
What happens DURING that week?
Well, Commerce Frosh is a four-day experience highlighting the best that the
Ted Rogers School of Management and the city of Toronto have to offer. This
year students will take part in: our Annual Cross-City Scavenger Hunt, an off-campus day at Ontario Place,
a luxury Finale Boat Cruise, and much, much more!
When is Froshey Shore 2011?
Froshey Shore 2011 will take place TUESDAY, AUGUST 30th - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER
2nd, 2011 at the Ted Rogers School of Management building at Bay St. and Dundas
St. in Downtown Toronto. You can't miss the building and be sure to save the
date!
Will it interfere with Academic
Orientations?
Nope! Commerce Frosh will start shortly after all your Academic Orientation
sessions so you won't miss out on them.
Why should I join Froshey Shore 2011?
Simple – you are entering the management field and you know the value of
meeting new people! Through a number of carefully planned events you get to
expand your comfort zone by trying new things and meeting new people. Your
Leaders and Organizers are also Ted Rogers School of Management students that
have been in your shoes before and are now ready to show you the ropes. These
people will act as mentors and help you adjust to a new environment and the
university setting. Plus, a number of them are already involved in many
different student groups/organizations on campus! We urge you to take part in
this event and get involved with your new school community as soon as
possible!
Can I bring a friend (Ryerson or non-Ryerson students) to any of the socials and/or the boat cruise?
Yes! We will be selling extra tickets for the Social events held at night and the Boat Cruise, the morning of each event. Only students registered for Frosh can buy up to 1 extra ticket pending on availability. Ticket prices for these events are still to be determined and will be announced when they are for sale.
What do I do if I registered for Froshey Shore 2011 using my parents Paypal account or credit card and therefore put the ticket under their name?
Send an e-mail to natasha.campagna@ryerson.ca and make sure you include the name the ticket is registered under and the new name you would like it to be registered under. A confrimation e-mail and a new ticket with the correct name will then be sent to the e-mail address registered with the ticket.

Ryerson Commerce Society
With almost 8,500 students, the Ted Rogers School of Management is the largest English-speaking Undergraduate Business School in Canada. The Ryerson Commerce Society (RCS) is the umbrella organization which represents the four schools in the faculty of business; Business Management, Information Technology Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Retail Management.
Founded almost 7 years ago, the RCS was created to enrich the University experience of all commerce students by acting as a liaison between commerce students, student groups and faculty, in addition to hosting various academic and social events throughout the year. We operate with the goal of uniting the four schools of business through our three pillars; providing commerce students with a social, professional, and educational experience that is second to none. The RCS also strives to ensure the development of a community spirit within the business student body and provides opportunities that will enrich every Commerce Students post-secondary experience.
The RCS works to accomplish these goals by funding commerce student groups and student initiatives in order to improve student life on campus. Funding initiatives include sending commerce students to educational conferences and case competitions, and subsidizing event costs to allow more students to take part in University events.
